Welcome to the official site of the St Lawrence Fair in Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex...
...and what a day we all had!
This site and all of its pages are currently being updated with photos, details of the winners of the various competions and events that took place plus eye witness updates from our field reporters. Please do come back and revist this site in a few days by which time all details and photos will be published - will you be able to find yourself in the crowd and IF so, are you smiling? We hope so!
We hope that all of our visitors had a wonderful time - we, the St Lawrence Fair Committee did!
We would like to thank all the extra helpers that pitched in on the day, the stall holders, Harris’ Fun Fair, the Round Table, Parish and Mid Sussex DC, Sussex Police, Hurst Traders and everyone who helped in the organisation of what was a fantastic day.
Most of all thanks to you for making it great!
St Lawrence Fair is run by a group of willing volunteers who take on the huge task of organising this event year-by-year. The Fair has evolved over the years since the charter was first given to the parish in 1313, from a fair in honour of the parish’s patron saint (and probably to thank God for the Harvest since his feast-day falls in mid-August!), through many other forms into an event to raise money for the local hospital in the 19th century right up to the village fair we see today. This year, St. Lawrence Fair was proud to support Cancervive, a charity based in Hurst offering support and counselling to those affected by cancer, both directly and indirectly.
